So, the biggest chapter of adolescence comes to an end tomorrow. It’s a most bizarre sensation. For the past six years I have been looking forward to it and now that it is practically here I’m not sure of totally what to make of it.

On one hand, I’m really sad that I’m leaving one of the biggest influences of who I am behind me. Annan Academy has left a very large impression on me. When I started there all the way back in 2004, I was young, green, shy and very, very naive. From then I have experienced the very best and worst times I have ever had. I’ve built friendships and bridges that can never be broken. I’ve learnt the art of humility where I have failed and mastered the art of confidence where I have succeeded. I’ve learned that what makes everyone different is what makes us all the same and vice versa. It’s almost became a part of who I am.

On the other however, as this page turns, we find the countless amount of adventures and experiences waiting for us on the other side. New people to meet, new places to see and new things to do. The whole world is waiting and personally, I cannot wait to see it. What is the point of it being there if we are going to wander around it and find a small part of it that we can call our own?

Until then however, there is the small matter of exams and summer. I am determined to make it the best three months of my life because let’s face it, after that, everything changes forever.

So to everyone I have ever known. regardless of if they were in my year or not,

As most of you know, since I was six years old I have been more commonly known as Dinger among my friends. Despite the fact I don’t introduce myself as it and there at least three other people in Annan I can think of that go by the same nickname, it has stuck nonetheless.

Dinger also refers to:

* A slang term for oral sex
* A slang term referring to persons of East-Indian descent
* A type of bell-headed monster from the children’s television show Sesame Street

Dean is disgusted, Kieran might be drunk, Kirsty is swearing at her Maths and I can’t see what Sarah is doing because my bag is in the way.

So I’m 18! But honestly, the whole business about buying alcohol and cigarettes legally doesn’t seem as novel as I thought it would.

That doesn’t mean to say I won’t so it though. You can expect me to fully exercise my right to get paralytic in a regular basis.

Anyway, Kieran is talking about talcum powder and sex, so I’m going to wait until I get home until I do a more meaningful post.

So today I have spent most of my time trying to get this computer working again. It’s been infected with a Trojan or something that imitates anti-virus software for the past fortnight now but haven’t really had the time or patience to do anything about it.

So I’ve taken the day off today in a bid to get it sorted. I started at about half past ten and I have only just managed to convince the computer to start in Safe Mode. it’s about twenty past five now by the way.

Anyway, it’s doing it’s wee scan now so we will have to wait and see if it can sort itself out now.

I’ll post something meaningful or interesting later. I promise.

A striking thought struck me today. Strikingly.

We have 11 more school days before we finally leave Sixth Year. In a
way, I can’t think of anything more exciting. For months now, I have wanted nothing more than to walk out of this school and never look back. Truth be told, I’m sick of the place. Most of the staff are uptight and unreasonably strict, the common room is dull, dark and over-crowded, there have been builders and labourers ever since I started First Year, there still isnt any soap in the bathrooms and the vast population if students there are nothing short of hypocritical and short tempered, admittedly, myself included, and the amount of bitching and hissy fits that occur on a daily basis is almost ridiculous.

However, despite all this, I have to admit, I really will miss the place and everyone there, regardless pf whether i actually like them or not. I’ll miss trying to sneak out of the common room early on a Friday with Nathan and Callum just so we could get to the front of the queue of Subway at lunchtime. I’ll miss standing in John Bell’s car park in the warm sunshine and keeping constant gaurd incase Mr Asher came up and caught us smoking despite the fact it was technically legal, I’ll miss the doodle wars with Steve in Physics and paying the consequences for it later, I’ll miss that brilliant feeling of walking home on a Friday afternoon, looking forward to the weekend ahead, I’ll miss Louise the dinner lady and I’ll miss the epic tunage that is Mrs Barclay’s iPod.

However, goodbyes aren’t for another few months yet. I just felt rather nostalgic and felt like rambling on it.

Anyway, Steve and I are pretending to be productive in the library so I guess I should stare blindly into a book for a while. (:
